  • Description:   The primary focus of a Material Handler is to provide a high level of customer service to our warehouse operations while meeting defined quality and on time performance standards. A Material Handler must work safely while adapting to the changing needs of our business.                           Technical Responsibilities of the Job
    • Perform inventory movements according to documented standard works using an RF terminal.
    • Proficiency in sit-down and reach truck forklift operation.
    • Unloading of inbound materials
    • Move materials within the warehouse while maintaining inventory accuracy.
    • Maintain housekeeping standards and address potential workplace hazards.
    • Perform other duties as communicated by the Outbound Supervisor

      Leadership Responsibilities
    • All warehouse employees are expected to communicate problems encountered as they pertain to Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery standards.

    • Self-leadership capabilities – the ability to lead yourself to meet your goals and those of the company.
    • Lead in the development of your own career with the assistance of the Skills Matrix and Standard Works
    • Hold a valid California Driver’s License
    • Forklift certification through Villara Forklift Training Program
    • HVAC and plumbing parts knowledge preferred.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
      Individuals must be able to physically:
    • All physical requirements are noted on the Physical Requirements document for warehouse worker.
      Working conditions and management style:
    • Current types of forklifts to be operated: Sit-down, Stand-up reach, and Combilift
    • The department is lead by the Inbound Supervisor and three Warehouse Leads
    • The Inbound Supervisor reports to the Warehouse Manager
    • Processes are controlled using standard work documentation. All warehouse employees are required to follow standard works and are encouraged to suggest improvements.
    • The Inbound Department is comprised of three primary warehouse functions:
      • Receiving materials
      • Material movements
      • Processing returned materials
    • All Material Handlers reporting to the Inbound Department are expected to learn and work in all three functions managed within the department.
    • Overtime will be required as fluctuations in the workload dictates.
      Performance Standards:
    • Clocking in to start work one minute late is considered late.
    • Maintain a professional attitude and adhere to all company policies.
    • All Villara employees are expected to work well with other team members, sub-contractors, and customers
    • A material handler must be in good attendance and performance standing to be eligible for transfer or promotion.
      What position is the next level up? The natural progression in career development for a material handler is advanced warehouse worker, or lead warehouse worker.                                                                                                                      What are the additional skills that are required to promote into the next level-up position?
    • Forklift certification through the Villara Forklift Training Program.
    • Trained in job duties of a Replenisher position by a Villara certified trainer.
    • Trained in job duties of a Receiving position by a Villara certified trainer.
    • Demonstrated behavior of performing more than what is asked by the department supervisor.
