Position Overview

An HVAC Estimating Manager is responsible for ensuring all work performed meets current codes and Villara’s exceptional quality standards. The Estimating Manager will oversee the Estimating, Options and FAB process for all HVAC activities to our builders. Additionally, the Manager will plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Supervisors, including the preparation of construction cost estimates, budgets, and value engineering, based on Villara’s design and bid strategy criteria. This role will promote and maintain sales in accordance with the company’s business plans. The Estimating Manager answers directly to the Vice President.

The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Receive directions and “Scope of Job Activities” from Vice President in meetings held for that purpose
  • Coordinate the operational activities of staff, and resolves day-to-day administrative and/or operational issues
  • Establish and maintain positive workplace relationships with internal and external customers and continue to build upon them over time.
  • Develop and prioritize specific goals and create a clear plan to prioritize, organize, and accomplish all work
  • Create and establish a metric system for the Estimating and Engineering teams, and ensure employees receive the support needed to deliver on all KPIs.
  • Initiate monthly “Quality/Control” checks on all processes, ensuring team is adhering to set standards and providing support and/or training when needed
  • Continuously seek opportunities to increase sales by promoting Villara services with current and new customers.
  • Directly work with and manage 6- 10 employees: plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; address complaints; resolve problems; reward employees; hire and terminate.
  • Ensure MS Teams, Share Point, and/or other scheduling program tasks are updated regularly by team members
  • Ensure Builder Submission deadlines are regularly updated and that the Estimating Schedule is adhered to by all team members
  • Develop and ensure the delivery of structured onboarding for all new Estimating employees
  • Regularly collaborate with the Purchasing Team, and ensure cross-departmental processes are continually upgraded to improve workflow and company profitability
  • Support the continued growth of Villara’s company culture and encourage a positive attitude within the team
  • Attend classes and seminars inside and outside the company to continually develop skills
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods and quality of product through Gemba Walks and Lean principles
  • Attend bi-weekly Job Costing Meeting and use the information to create action items.
  • Work closely with internal supervisors to ensure the team is performing to expectations; provide individual training and coaching as needed.
  • Develop, research, apply and recommend Value Engineering Principles and Methods to reduce project construction costs.
  • Ensure there is strong communication and processes metrics are being followed between Field Operations and Internal Departments.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals, to provide value to the company.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • A desire to create a development plan for direct reports, and to regularly meet with each to review skills gaps and progress toward goals
  • Ability to lead from within the team, and to offer assistance and guidance to other team members
  • Lead in the development of your own career with the assistance of the Skills Matrix
  • Bi-Weekly Meetings with the VP of Engineering and Sales

Training/Certification

  • Must have knowledge of the Heating and Air Conditioning Sub-Contracting business, understanding the principle of Manual J and equipment right sizing and room to room C.F.M. calculations, understanding the basic principle of HVAC design, equipment and materials that applies.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel.
  • SAP Software
  • Maintain CBC Code Knowledge
  • Maintain SMACNA Construction Standard knowledge.
  • Understand current T-24 Part XI that applies to HVAC
  • AutoCAD or Bluebeam proficient

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year College or University; or 7 to 10 years’ equivalent experience in construction or related fields

Tradesman/Journeyman Plumber

The Plumbing Journeyman will be motivated and responsible for routing various types of pipes and water lines to the sewer systems of new residential and multi-family homes. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for strapping pipes, nail plating, running condensation lines, gluing pipe and running pex lines.

  • Copper water lines (measure, cut, clean, flux and solder)

Position Overview

A Plumbing Designer must be self-motivated, detail oriented, flexible with changing tasks, able to figure out solutions to problems. Must be a good listener and able to take good notes. Plumbing has many different ways of doing the same thing. Must be willing to learn and adapt to the Villara way. As a company we design for installation with the submittal to the city and counties as second. The Plumbing Department only works when everyone considers all those involved. Must be a TEAM player!

Technical Responsibilities of the Job

The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Designer will work and design in AutoCAD almost every day.
  • Designer will use Microsoft software like Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Designer will view and edit plans in Adobe and /or Bluebeam.
  • Designer will download Plans, Worksheets and CADs files from File Share websites.
  • Designer will navigate complex CAD file structures from all trades.
  • Designer will read plans, such as Architecture, Structural, Civil, MEP and more.
  • Designer will print plans, small, half scale and full scale. Refill copier and large plotter as needed.
  • Designer will be self-sufficient.
  • Designer will talk to and communicate with Villara Field Supers, Architects, Builders, Construction Managers, City’s etc.

Training/Certification

  • Computer skills including intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Plumbing or related knowledge preferred.
  • Intermediate mathematics to solve problems.
  • Must have AutoCAD Experience (either through the classroom or previous work)
  • Multi-Family plumbing design experience highly preferred.
  • Multi-Family Plumbing experience is highly preferred.
